Buhari Will Take Nigeria To Greater Heights - PDP BOT Chairman,Chief Tony Anenih

CHAIRMAN of the People's Democratic Party's (PDP) board of trustees Chief Tony Anenih has thrown his support behind president-elect General Muhammadu Buhari saying that his recent election would take Nigeria to greater heights.
 
One of President Goodluck Jonathan's closest confidants, Chief Anenih was one of the PDP's major campaign strategists. However, like President Jonathan, he too has decided to accept the results of the March 28 presidential election and called on his supporters to offer General Buhari's incoming government their full cooperation.
 
In a two- page statement, titled Marching on with Hope, Chief Anenih urged those who might still be aggrieved by the outcome of the elections to emulate the selflessness and magnanimity of President Jonathan who conceded victory. He congratulated General Buhari on his victory and hailed President Jonathan's statesmanship in conceding defeat, noting that the president made an indelible mark on the sands of time, accepting the outcome of the polls to ensure that Nigeria enjoyed peace, greatness and prosperity.
 
Chief Anenih said: said:  "A keenly contested presidential election, which many predicted would spell doom for Nigeria, has ended, gloriously, with everyone a winner. I congratulate the president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, on his victory.  
 
"Nigerians are expecting great things from him and it is my hope that he will take this great country to greater heights in the journey towards our manifest destiny. I salute the statesmanship of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in conceding defeat, even before the official declaration of results was done and by this noble act, President Jonathan has made an indelible mark on the sands of time."
 
He added that history will be very kind to President Jonathan who has worked, selflessly, to deepen democracy in Nigeria. According to Chief Anenih, the president's consistent advocacy of the rights of the people to freely choose their leaders had yielded free, fair and credible elections in some states of the federation.
 
Chief Anenih added that now, a peaceful transition is expected to follow after the general elections. He pointed out that the 2015 presidential elections has become a source of pride to Nigeria as it has portrayed to the world that Nigerian democracy with the best anywhere.(Picture Credits to Nigerianwatch.com)
