Two Dead As Trains Colided In Lagos


Two train passengers have been confirmed dead on Sunday after two trains collided while on motion at the Agege Area of Lagos state.



The two dead persons were also confirmed to be illegal passengers of both trains as they were hanging illegally at the Rooftop of the train before the ugly incidence.


In a bid to get the cause and details of the collision, Mr Adeseyi Sijuwade, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has set up an inquiry panel consisting the Directors of Operations, Electrical, Mechanical, Signal and Intelligent Unit instructing them to visit the site of the collision and gather informations ranging from passersby,eyewitnesses and also from the police station.


Nonetheless, Mr Akin Osinowo, Lagos Railway District Manager (RDM) has called on the families of the deceased to come and collect the corpses at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ebute-Meta.


According to Mr Osinowo, “The families of the deceased should bring a documentary evidence to support their claim, evidence of identity of the corpses, evidence of their relationship with the dead and a Sworn Affidavit. After being certified, they will be referred to the police authority where we will ensure that the bodies are released to them,” 


While addressing the issue, Mr Osinowo admonished train users to avoid illegal boarding and hanging on a train while on motion as live has got no duplicate.
