Nigerian Government Officially Declares July 6th And 7th 2016 as Public Holiday To Celebrate Eid-il-Fitr:




The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Wednesday and Thursday public holidays to mark the eid-il-fitr celebration while reversing Tuesday as it earlier declared.




Amidst all comments and public opinions on the main reason for the date change, Abdulrahman Dambazau, Minister of Interior in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Bassey Akpanyung said the directive by the President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto, to the effect that the Ramadan fast continues today (Tuesday) as a result of the non-sighting of the moon” to this end the Federal government now declares Wednesday and Thursday as work free Day's



According to Bassey Akpanyung, the new date declaration by the minister of interior was on behalf of the Federal Government while urging Nigerians to use this period of sober reflections to ensure harmony, unity and peaceful co-existence, and give full support to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in his sustained effort to pursue socioeconomic and political growth of Nigeria
