The South African government on 24 October confirmed the release of the supposed seized arms money belonging to Nigeria a month ago. This was revealed by the South African Ambassador to Nigeria, Lulu Louis Mnguni. On 5th of September 2014, the South African government seized a whooping sum of $15 million in batches of $9.3 million and $5.7 million a month later with reasons that the funds were seized to avoid illegal purchase of arms. Nonetheless, the initial reasons for the seizure of the funds was attributed to the death that occured in Nigeria at the collaspe of the quest house of the synagogue church of All Nations ( SCOAN ) lagos where about 80 South Africans lost their lives. Speaking on this, in a statement released by the OOC media online news, Lulu Louis Mnguni made it clear that the incident at the synagogue church was far from why the funds were seized and that such tragedy could only make both countries stronger and closer. He said " South Africas relation with Nigeria has come a long way, So now, this will actually make us closer, to see how we can Close some of these gaps that result in such accidents " On confirmation of the release of the funds, Mnguni added " South Africas relation with Nigeria is Priceless, It cannot be sold for $15 million. These are two separate incidents and of course, the issue of the money has already been sorted out. Nigeria has been given the Money " |
