The well known Ghanian dark and bitter drink, "Alomo Bitters" produced by Kasapreko that found its way into the Nigerian market knocking off its competitors has openly declared through its founder Kwabena Adjei,in a report by Businessdayonline papers that Nigeria was his biggest market, but regretted the faking of Alomo in the country.
The dark herbal drink that found its way into the Country since 2011 has according to Adjei deepened the herbal bitter drinks market knocking off its Swedish and German counterparts who couldnot create enough awareness for their products thereby affecting the sales level.
In Nigeria, the drink is belived to arouse the body as its mostly consumed by the youths due to the level of alcohol contents therein, not mentioning the rate of chaos recorded after its consumption
In the same vein, the 360NoBs reported that Predictably, between 2011 and 2012, the product market share hovered around 80 percent of the bitters market. But this share was soon weakened as adulteration of the product and genuine competition entered to tap into what experts described as N32.2
billion annual bitters market.
The Ghanian drink got immediate approval by NAFDAC as the invention seems to create its own Nigerian market paving way for its adulteration.
While lamenting the rise in faking of the product the Kasaprekos Boss said "If we don't fight the fake, we are hurting the government because fakers don't pay tax".
