The Nigerian Electoral Debate Group(NEDG) has finally announced February 8 as the official date for the upcoming February 14 presidential elections between incumbent Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan and the former Head of State Gen. Mohammed Buhari both of PDP and APC respectively.
In its Leadership Report, the NEDG said the February 14 presidential election will hold on February 8 just as the vice presidential debate will hold on February 1. In a press conference yesterday in Abuja, chairman of the NEDG, Sola Omole said 13 out of the 14 candidates for the presidential and vice presidential debates have confirmed their participation in the debates.
In his remarks, Sola Omole asserted that mole that debates are a major component of any democracy as the candidates will have the opportunity of interacting with the Nigerian electorate and based on that Nigerians will make informed decisions going into the polls
Just as it were, the greatest rival of the incumbent president Goodluck Jonathan remains the APC presidential Flag bearer and the "CHANGE" gospel preacher, Gen.Mohammed Buhari leaving Nigerians the choice of electing who takes over the Aso Villa come Feb. 14 2015.
The hope of the citizenry seems much more dependant on the forth coming election considering the civil and political unrest bedeviling the Nigerian economy.
