Indonesian Government through its search and rescue agencies on Sunday went in search of a missing passenger plane flight number TGN267 with 54 people onboard
which failed to arrive it's destination of Oksibil due to bad weather over the remote eastern region of Papua but have been found crashed in the Oktabe district of Papua according to an official of the Ministry of Transportation.
The nation's search and rescue agency (BASARNAS) had since begun intensive search despite hindrances due to stormy weather over the mountainous and remote region, and have been suspended until the morning and have begun again.
The plane was flying between Jayapura's Sentani Airport and Oksibil, due South of Jayapura, the capital of Papua Province.
The passenger flight left Jayapura at 2:22 p.m. and had a scheduled landing in Oksibil for 3:16 p.m. Contact was lost around 2:55 p.m. with no indication of a distress call from the plane.
The Trigana Air ATR 42-300 turboprop plane took off from Sentani airport in the region’s capital Jayapura on a flight to Oksibil, located south of the city. Oksibil is a remote settlement in the mountains, which is only accessible by plane.
Onboard the crashed plane are 44 Adult passengers,5 Children including 2 Infants and 5 crew members.
