Earlier today 20th Oct 2014,the World Health Organisation (WHO) officially certified Nigeria as an Ebola free nation.
To this effect, an event to celebrate the nations success was hosted today in Abuja, the nations capital
On the list of attendees was Ms. Chinyere Enemo, one of the survivours of the virus who spake on behalf of the other at the event. She testified how she survived the virus aside from intensive and strong medical attention said " we were placed under survelliance, going for medical investigation, especially the temprature as well as been fed with balanced diet"
Ms Chinyere who contacted the virus from her brother Dr. Ikeh Enemo who eventually died of the disease in PortHarcourt ,Nigeria.
Still in the celebration spirit, the countrys Minister of health, Dr. Onyebuchi Chukwu took a bow after the declaration and said it represents purposeful leadership in Nigeria which other countries ravaged by the Ebola virus should emulate. In the same vein, the minister of state for health, Dr. Kanuri A. Urge health workers to still maintain vigilance even after the certification while strong survelliance activities should continue especially at all the ports of entry.
Nonetheless, a one minute silence was observed for those that died during the outbreak
The event was attended by WHO representatives with the Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan in attendance
